2018 Homecoming Parade Grand Marshalls Spotlight: Mr. & Mrs. Don & Jeannine Toon

The Franklin Central High School Student Council and Principal Huotari interviewed the 2018 Annual Homecoming Parade Grand Marshalls, Mr. & Mrs. Don & Jeannine Toon at the start of the school year. They were nominated by FTCSC teachers and school board members for their strong commitment to our schools since the 1940’s. We are honored they will represent FTCSC during Homecoming Week!

Mr. Toon, we hear you are a fellow Student Council Rep (!) and graduated from Franklin Township High School in 1948. What activities were you involved in while in school?

I lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. I was the Class President and the Class Vice President. I participated in Student Council, the Boys Club, and was on the Pilot Staff as the Sports Editor. (Principal Huotari has a photograph of Mr. Toon’s varsity basketball team framed and on display in his office from 1948)!

Mr. & Mrs. Toon, has your family also been as dedicated to FTCSC as you are?

Yes! We have three sons: Don, Jr., Rob, and Steve. All three sons played football at Franklin Central. Five of our grandchildren attended Franklin Central: Lindsey (cheerleader, flags, and FC Singers); Trevor (baseball, basketball, and football); Nathan (football, track); Claire, and Leslie (cheerleader, Student Council, and Show Choir). We have five great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Brady, Karson, Makenzie, and Turner who are in Franklin Township Schools.

Thank you for representing our schools in our Homecoming Week festivities! In the 1990’s you were awarded the Todd Cougill Award for your dedication to athletes in our district. Mr. Toon, we love that you wear your letterman’s sweater from 1948 each year to the Homecoming Alumni Dinner. You are a PROUD FLASH! Thank you for your support of our athletic, show choir and Student Council programs in our district. You are a Franklin Township Legacy!

The Franklin Central High School Student Council & Parade Grand Marshalls are excited for Homecoming! We hope you are, too!
